KFII:262.06A Ladies' Jacket, 1862, size 8-18
Because the short jackets are so important in fashion and because they will probably remain so for quite some time, we will share this pretty version of a short jacket with lapel with our readers as a useful and therefore welcome addition to their wardrobe. Der Bazar, No 11, March 15th, 1862
Short jackets were an essential part of a woman’s wardrobe in the 19th century, when houses were often drafty and when outerwear for the colder seasons was designed to be layered. In the 1860’s many pretty designs were shown in fashion magazines: some were accessories to complete a fashionable outfit, others were more utilitarian in nature, intended to keep the wearer warm and comfortable.
